1. Yes, they should parallel the new techer standards because we are also modeling to the teachers. Just ass the children need to have models, so do the teachers. We should promote and model digital work and learning. We, as administrators, should also promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility. Many administrator's today do not see why administrator's should be in the lop. Many administrator's feel that it is just the teacher's job to keep up with technology. I know many administrator's that do not know how to set up a "Group" address in their own emails. For example sending an email to specific departments such as the EC Dept., House chairs, etc. This sends a strong message to the administrator's staff.
2. I would make sure standards 3 and 4 are included in the new standards. As I stated in the previous response, we as administrator's need to go a step further with technology so the teacher's will follow our lead.
3. For the standards to be from 2002, and given the rate technology has grown, the standards have held up to the test of time pretty well.

It IS sad when administrators don't know how to work with technology in even the simplest of things like you mentioned. Okay, maybe simple to us, not so simple to them. But, yes, as leaders we do need to go a step further with technology and be models for the teachers. How cool would it be for an older administrator to show the young teachers (who are usually more savvy in technology) something the young ones had not seen before? Neat!
First of all, I think you need to check out one of your words in your second sentence.
But, I totally agree with you. I feel it is a part of the administrator's duties to be able to model technology tools to their teachers. Think about it...when we were in the classroom, what did the administration team always say? They said use more technology, use more technology. I wanted to tell them so bad, if you would teach me how to use it in my classroom and how it would benefit my students, maybe I would!!
